US 98 is getting rebuilt from Griffin Road to Sharon Drive
The state is reconstructing the pavement on US 98 (SR 700/35) through this stretch of Lakeland, with work already underway.
The Florida Department of Transportation is rebuilding the roadway surface on US 98 (SR 700/35) between just south of Griffin Road (CR 582) and Sharon Drive. The work is a flexible pavement reconstruction — rebuilding the road base and surface rather than a simple resurfacing — covering roughly 3.2 kilometers of roadway across eight segments.
C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. holds the active contract (T1870), which was let in June 2024. Construction began on November 10, 2024. The known contract value is about $5.86 million.
